Match date: 25th January 2022 Kickoff: 7.30 pm

Easthouses Lily M.W.F.C.       0   Dunbar United    4

In a briskly arranged friendly match,  Dunbar United travelled to Midlothian to play Easthouses Lily for the first time since March 2019,  and with no game last weekend it was another opportunity to utilise their squad and gain some valuable game time, whilst Easthouses were hoping to bounce back from a defeat against Lochore Welfare at the weekend.

On a bitterly cold night Dunbar almost scored in their first attack after the home keeper sliced his clearance, but Kieran Ingram’s shot went inches wide.  Easthouses had a header saved comfortably by Ryan Mack in the Dunbar goal,  before Jaciz Balde headed over from Andy Jones cross.

Dunbar were dominating the game and a Balde free kick was headed wide by Jamie Devlin before the deadlock was finally broken in the 38th minute when Andy Jones played in Jaciz Balde on the right and the young winger blasted a shot across the goalkeeper into the top corner of the net and gave Dunbar a deserved lead.

Dunbar might have increased their lead before the break but some poor finishing let them down on numerous occasions.

Both teams made multiple changes on the restart and it was the home side that dictated the opening stages without being dangerous in front of goal before Dunbar threatened with a neat one two between Fraser Neave and Darren Handling saw the latter’s shot saved bravely by the Easthouses keeper.

Dunbar increased their lead in the 66th minute with Fraser Neave and Bob Berry combining well on the left leaving Fraser Neave clear to drive forward and blast a right footed shot into the net.

Andy Jones headed wide from a corner and Fraser Neave was unlucky to see his fierce volley from a right wing cross strike the side netting as Dunbar began to spray their passes around and Andy Jones went close again from another Neave cross.

Four minutes from time Andy Jones picked up a loose ball twenty five yards out and struck his trademark right footed shot high into the net past the despairing home keeper for his twentieth goal of the season to make the score 3-0 for Dunbar.

Three minutes later Andy Jones fired another cross goalwards,  but the keeper this time parried his shot away into the path of Johnny Edmond who steered the ball home from close range to make the final score 4-0 to the visitors.

Another worthwhile exercise to gain more game time for all the players and hopefully they will carry this form on to Saturday’s home League game against Dundonald Bluebell with kick off at 2.30pm. Tickets for the game are on sale via the club’s Fanbase app:
