Grant Thomson signs a new deal

Dunbar United are delighted to announce that Club Captain Grant Thomson has signed a new contract extension with the club until the end of season 2026/27.

Here is what the gaffer Kevin Haynes had to say earlier tonight:

Grant is a person and player that I admire hugely. The way he conducts himself around the club is an example to players of all ages.

As club captain he leads by example to players both young and old. He is the first to attend training, trains the hardest, and when we suffer defeat he hurts the most. He has achieved so much representing this club to date and I feel he has so much more to offer moving forward. His next milestone will be becoming our second leading appearance holder and with this contract we can hopefully see him chasing down first place in time.

This contract isn’t all about sentiment, it’s about a player who dedicates himself to being the best he can be and I’m sure everyone will agree that over the last 2.5 years we have seen the best version of Grant Thomson. During my time at the club I have brought in competition for the centre half position and Grant rises to the challenge every season to be a stand out player.

Grant is someone I can trust, lean on and I look forward to working with him more. A true legend of this club.
