Haynesy signs new two year deal

Dunbar United are delighted to announce that first team manager, Kevin Haynes, has signed a contract extension with the club.

Club Chaplain, James Stout, caught up with Haynsey before training tonight to get his thoughts on the new deal.

Here is what our Chair of the club, Pam Munro had to say earlier tonight on the big news.

Kevin has been an inspiration since coming to Dunbar in July 2021, so it was the easiest decision I’ve ever made to extend his contract. Kevin did play hardball in the contract negotiations though – made me buy him two cups of coffee before signing!

Over the last 2.5 seasons, Kevin has brought some fantastic football to New Countess Park, and his continued enthusiasm and efforts have justifiably brought rewards both on and off the park. The quality of the team has grown so much, and players have quickly warmed to the amazing environment he has created for them – he has made Dunbar a place where players want to come to, rather than somewhere we have to drag them to.

Kevin has also developed a fantastic rapport with the supporters and all our volunteers. Always a fan favourite as a player, and now as a manager he takes time before and after every match to greet our supporters, getting to know them and answering any questions they may have about the game, in his open and honest manner. He’s also full of ideas to develop the Club too, which makes our job much easier!

All of the above meant it was key to get Kevin’s signature on a new contract sooner rather than later. He has achieved some amazing things in his time so far, and we’re excited he’s agreed to lead the Club to the level we know we deserve.
