An update from our Manager

I was very unhappy with the team’s performance against The Swifts two weeks ago.  We never turned up for the game and never played to our full potential,  however we upped our game against Penicuik last Saturday.  The lads put in a much better performance,  but we never managed to get anything from the game.

We gave away a silly goal against Penicuik,  and we were making stupid mistakes both as a team and individually,  however this week both Dunny and myself have spoken to the lads and told them that we need to improve on these costly errors.

I was disappointed to hear that Fraser Mclaren has decided to hang up his boots and retire from the club,  but I very much respect his decision.  Fraser has been a great servant for the club and has been great for me since I joined Dunbar.

Following on from Fraser’s retirement,  the decision to appoint Grant Thomson as our new Captain was an easy one.  Grant is a model professional footballer,  he is a player that looks after himself,  one that trains well and leads the club by example,  and who has a real affiliation and affection for the club,  so it was very easy for me to choose Thommo as our new skipper.

I was also disappointed that the bad weather on Tuesday put a stop to our arranged friendly match against my old club, Lowland League team Berwick Rangers.

The game would of been a great test for us as it would have given the players some much needed minutes on the park,  but unfortunately due to the heavy rain throughout the day,  the match had to be cancelled.

I would like to give warm welcome to Gordon Herd and his Linlithgow Rose side to New Countess Park for tomorrow afternoon’s East of Scotland Premier League match.

The reverse fixture at Prestonfield this season was a disappointing performance on our behalf and we need to give a much better account of ourselves this time around.

We are now approaching a run of games which will ultimately make or break our season and we need to be focused on picking up as many points as possible.

Once again I would like to thank all the fans of the club for the marvellous support and backing you have given myself and all the team this season.
