An update from our Manager

I’m not sure how to follow up on Smally’s update last week. I can’t actually remember much about it if I’m honest as I fell asleep halfway through it. 🙂

I will start off this week’s review by saying how proud I was of last week’s defensive performance. To keep a clean sheet against the free scoring Luncarty who average 4 goals per game and prior to coming to NCP hadn’t failed to find the back of the net in any of their previous league games.

For anyone who wasn’t at the match it wasn’t a desperate defensive performance where we had to block shots and do last ditch defending, but more of an all round defensive performance from the goalkeeper to the attackers.

We denied space for Luncarty to play it, we applied pressure on Luncarty players when they had possession of the ball, and we won the ball back quickly transforming defending situations into attacking situations, and if truth be told we should have scored more goals.

The Luncarty goalkeeper made 2 or 3 good saves and Ben Bathgate hit the crossbar during a period of 15 minutes where our relentless pressure resulted in us winning a deserved penalty.

We welcome Lochore Welfare to New Countess Park this afternoon in another tricky league match before we take a break for two cup weekends after that. It would be great to see a good DUFC support cheer us on again and help towards gaining more valuable league points.

All the best

Kevin Haynes
