An update from our Manager

Having finished last year positively,  we were all looking forward to playing one of the top teams in the league when we were due to face Tranent last week,  but unfortunately the game was called off due to Tranent having only 8 fit players.

If i’m being honest now,  I was delighted the game was called off as we too would have been short of players due to isolation rules,  including myself who was stuck at home after a positive test in my household.

With the game being postponed,  we wanted to test the players physically this week and it’s been worthwhile. We had a great conditioning session last Saturday at a local gym followed by a really competitive friendly match on Tuesday night against my old club Lowland League side Berwick Rangers.

For the game on Tuesday we had a young trialist called Jaciz Balde,  and the young attacker played well against Berwick the other night,  and even managed to get on the scoresheet.  We are happy to announce that Jaciz has agreed a temporary transfer from Civil Service Strollers till the end of the season.

This week Darren Handling managed to sneak into the top 25 goal scorers of all time for DUFC,  with his 25 yard tap in from outside the box.  I am sure Daz will be looking to get more goals for the club.

However I do have some bad news to share,  as this week I was the worst at shooting on Thursday night at our training session,  which now means I need to buy the biscuits next week for my poor performance.  I can assure you all that this will not happen again. 🙂

I hope you can make it along tomorrow afternoon to New Countess Park for our important league game against Newtongrange Star.  It would be really great to see and hear a big home support cheer on all the lads.
