An update from our Manager
Tomorrow we welcome Broxburn Athletic to NCP for what is a monumental occasion for the Club. Being able to compete in the Scottish Cup is the reward for the work put in by the Board.
This process was started and completed before my time at the Club, so I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to manage the team that will go down in the Club’s history as the first team to compete in the competition.
Having played Broxburn already this season, we know this will be an extremely difficult match. Broxburn have a wealth of experience who have played in the Scottish Cup before and have a match winner in my old teammate, David Greenhill.
We know we have to be at our best to stop Davie and his Broxburn team mates. They have been on a great run since we beat them early in the season, and will come to avenge that result.
We have added some quality to our squad over the last week by bringing in Dan Purves on loan from Berwick Rangers, and also Darren Smith from Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale. Dan is a player who I have worked with over the last 3 years, and is a dynamic and exciting player. He needs to kick on now and be a mainstay in the Berwick team when he returns at the turn of the year.
Darren (Smudger) Smith is a midfield player who brings experience to this team. He has played across most levels in the country, with senior experience with Airdrie, Berwick and Albion Rovers, and non league experience with top clubs like Bonnyrigg Rose, Kelty Hearts and Gala Fairydean. I want to wish both players the best of luck during their time with us.
It will be great seeing all the supporters of the club at the game… and hopefully we can be in the hat for round one.
Enjoy the game tomorrow.
